Planning ahead for year-end fundraising

A free session on Aug. 28 from the Lenfest News Philanthropy Network

It’s never too early to start planning for end-of-year fundraising. The Lenfest News Philanthropy Network hosted a workshop on Wednesday, Aug. 28 featuring presentations by Lucas Grindley, executive director at Next City, Ellen Oost, vice president of development and marketing at Louisville Public Media, and Kelly Wilkinson, membership director at Louisville Public Media.

Lucas is the Executive Director of Next City, a nonprofit newsroom that covers solutions for equitable cities. Lucas is the former President of Pride Media and led LGBTQ brands The Advocate, Out magazine, Out Traveler, Plus magazine, and PRIDE.com, which he founded. Lucas was also editor in chief of The Advocate.  

Ellen leads LPM’s membership and marketing departments as well as major gifts, grants, and events. Ellen was the 2022 recipient of the Public Radio Association of Development Officers Development Professional of the Year award and currently serves on NPR’s inaugural Collaborative Philanthropy Advisory Council. 

Kelly manages LPM’s fundraising efforts including membership drives and communication with members. His first experience in radio was at student-run WUSC in Columbia, SC and as an intern at 89.3 WFPL.
