Capital campaigns can be a powerful tool for news fundraisers. These major fundraising efforts can catalyze donors, board members, and staff around significant goals that can build an organization’s capacity. Successful campaigns require detailed planning, a clear message, and buy-in throughout the organization. 

To learn more about the basics of planning a campaign for your organization, The Lenfest Institute’s News Philanthropy Network hosted a free virtual introductory workshop. 

Andrea Kihlstedt, a fundraising consultant with more than 30 years experience and the co-founder of Capital Campaign Pro, provided an overview of the campaign process, outlined the steps necessary to plan and launch a campaign, and answered questions from participants.
