Kristin Traniello

Program Manager, Knight Communities Network

Kristin Traniello is the Institute’s program manager for the Knight Communities Network, where she helps communities develop sustainable local news ecosystems. Previously, Kristin served as editorial consultant for the Institute’s Every Voice, Every Vote initiative and worked alongside Philadelphia media and community organizations to catalyze civic engagement in the city. 

Before the Institute, Kristin served as senior engagement strategist for a collaboration of six public media newsrooms in Illinois, where she championed engaged journalism practices to foster deeper community connections. Before entering journalism, Kristin co-founded Urbana First Fridays, an event series that celebrated and uplifted local businesses and artists in Urbana, Illinois. 

Kristin holds a B.A. from Boston University and an M.S. in Library and Information Sciences from the University of Illinois. When she’s not working, she’s playing outside with her husband, their fluffy dog, and their two small-but-mighty daughters.
